This course introduces students to human and physical geography of the seven continents through map reading exercises as background for any other course which depends on awareness of location, or how physical geography shapes culture: history and the social sciences, literature, geology, astronomy, and languages.
During this nine-week course we will cover
Prerequisite: None. This course is intended to help anyone gain a better understanding of the study of geography and maps, and become more familiar with locations that play key roles in history and literature.
Meetings: The course meets once a week for 90 minutes. See the 2019 Schedule for topics.
Required Texts:
No texts are required. We will rely extensively on available web resources, however, so a reliable internet connection is critical for both chat and preparation time.
Required Software:
Only a current version of one of the standard browsers is required. Exercises and projects will be hosted on the Scholars Online Moodle server.
