A discussion of our working methods and processes; when we’ve finished with that, we’ll open up a general discussion of what history is and what it’s about, and why one would want to bother studying it. From there we’ll follow into a discussion of related matters.
You will be expected to read each chapter prior to the week for which it is assigned. Immediately following each Thursday chat session, a quiz will open on the next chapter, and you will be expected to take it by midnight Monday night (Pacific Time). At that point the quiz will close and will not be re-opened. This is to ensure that everyone stays current on the reading and comes to class ready to participate in the discussion; the quizzes will also give you an idea of what we consider significant enough to put on exams later on. The quizzes will count toward your overall grade for the course.
