Unit 18: Medieval and Renaissance Science
Preparation
- History Web Lecture: We summarize the major events of the middle ages and the Renaissance to establish the background against which the scientific events occur.
- Science Web Lecture: We look at the different organisations of human knowledge used in the middle ages, and the questions they still raise about information access, organization, retrieval, and teach methods.
- Homework: Students should understand the scope of material covered by several major divisions of science, and consider what methods of investigation are appropriate to each.
- Discussion: Our discussion will center on how we organize information, and how our methods of organization influence the way we look at the universe, and teach what we know about it.
