Variable Stars Lab

Goal: To determine the period of variability from simulated photometry observations.

Simulation Materials and Tools

Use the set of simulators at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln lab to conduct this "observation".

Procedure

1. Read through the Variable Star Photometry Lab sections:
   • Overview of Variable Stars
   • Properties of CCds
   • Student Guide for Variable Star Photometry
2. Use the student guide and simulations to complete at least one preliminary lab (I, II, or III), then complete Part IV to determine the period, light curve, and type of variable.
