Molding Your Style

Source Passages:

Choose one of the above passages as the one you want to work with for the remainder of the course.

We'll work on putting each of them into the styles of a number of English stylists.

Below are samples of the target styles, by week. Some are linked; others you need to get in another form:

  1. Edgar Allen Poe, "The Tell-Tale Heart"
  2. Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea
  3. Lord Dunsany, The King of Elfland’s Daughter
  4. Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter
  5. Ray Bradbury, Something Wicked This Way Comes
  6. Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

For the last assignment, I will ask you to select one of the above exercises you have already done and rewrite it in accordance with the criticisms that have arisen in class, and your own subsequent reflections. You may change it as largely or as little as you like.

All your work should go into the forum on the Moodle page for the week
