General course overview and outline of expectations

This course is an intermediate-level reading course, beginning with edited passages from Freeman and Lowe, A Greek Reader for Schools, and continuing afterward with Plato’s Apology of Socrates (complete and unaltered). The main goal here is to acquire fluency and familiarity with the structure and vocabulary of Attic Greek, and the course presupposes a thorough working familiarity with everything normally covered in an introductory course or sequence of courses — such as the two-year sequence at Scholars Online using Hansen and Quinn’s Greek: An Intensive Course. Those coming from other backgrounds are certainly welcome, but I would like to confirm readiness before accepting anyone into class. Preparation solely confined to Koine or Homeric Greek will not suffice.
